“Use a cleanser only once a day. Yes, that's right - just ONCE in the evening. In the evening, use a gentle cleanser (such as Janesce Rose Cleanser) to remove surface impurities without striping the skin. Follow with your soaking ritual, before locking in that water with your Janesce Floral Mist and appropriate Janesce moisturising cream.”
Cleansing your skin is recommended to remove the daily build up of pollutants and makeup products. At the end of each day, impurities will have built up on your skin. It could be perspiration (sweat), dirt, pollution, makeup, or skin care products. Use a cream, lotion or oil cleanser. Avoid foaming soaps and cleansers on both your face and body - they will strip the skin of natural oils and make it harder to stay hydrated! If you don’t cleanse – this could cause a build up of these impurities, which can further irritate and cause problems with the skin.
Once a day?! Think about it. Eliminating the cleansing step in the morning makes sense. After cleansing at night, you sleep, so there may be only a little dust, perspiration and possibly traces of night cream on your skin by morning. Soaking your skin, as part of your morning routine, will gently rinse these away while maintaining your skin's delicate acid balance and preserving your natural protection.
Skin Soaking
“Quarter fill (2cm) your basin with warm water, and add 2-3 drops of soaking drops. Immerse your soaking cloth in the warm water, squeeze and place over your face and neck. Hold for 20 seconds, then repeat 3-5 times. Soak longer if you are new to the soaking ritual, or if your skin is especially dehydrated. The longer and more often the better. ”

The skin cannot hold onto moisture for more than 12 hours so you need to top up topical hydration levels twice daily to maintain your beautiful Janesce glow. Soaking is a gentle way to hydrate the upper layers of your skin. Added to warm water, this stimulating blend of plant essences hydrates and treats the skin. This treatment offers a gentle cleanse while increasing the skins ability to absorb beneficial plant actives by up to 50%. Floral Mists
“Mist directly onto clean damp skin, or spray 1-2 times into damp palms and press onto the skin. Can be used over makeup and other products throughout day. The Janesce Soothing Mist is our first aid for hot, inflamed or itchy skin. Mist onto the skin at least four times daily until the skin feels better. ”

Using your mist is an important piece of the puzzle, before applying your serums and moisturisers.
Serums & Concentrates
“For the Janesce herbal concentrates, apply 2-3 drops to damp pre-soaked skin. Unless you have been instructed to do so by a professional, don’t use more than one serum. This can cause reactions if the combined products don’t work together, or if they are too strong when combined.”
Janesce concentrates and serums are high-powered plant therapy. They restore, regenerate and enliven your skin. Created from organic herb and floral extracts, they naturally absorb into the layers of your skin to boost healthy skin function. They are the medicine for the skin. When used correctly, the difference in your skin can be positively remarkable when using a serum. Be sure to buy a serum suited to your skin type, as prescribed by your beauty therapist.
Moisturisers
“You MUST soak your skin first. Apply a very small amount of concentrated cream, lotion or facial oil to your damp skin. Follow with Suncare Lotion. ”
It's important to choose a moisturiser that will LOCK IN the hydration of your skin. Otherwise what's the point in soaking! It is essential in keeping the skin hydrated and protected. Janesce creams are highly concentrated and contain less water than other skin care products. For this reason the moisturising process is divided into two steps; the water phase (soak and mist) and the concentrated cream phase (moisturise).
Lower quality and drugstore moisturisers often contain higher contents of water. We know how important it is to keep your skin hydrated; but putting water on top of water does not lock it in. Sometimes these moisturisers also contain low amounts of active ingredients, and may not be doing much of anything for your skin despite saying “contains amazing and/or trending ingredient”.
Sun Care
“Use Janesce Suncare Lotion every day, as a progressive treatment to protect your skin from the damaging effects of the sun. EVERY DAY – even in winter, and even when it’s not sunny. Your SPF will go on top of this when necessary.”
The Janesce Suncare Lotion works by saturating the uppler layers of our skin with powerful antioxidants, a process that takes 7 to 10 days. Over this time the antioxidants it contains are stored in the tiny spaces between the layers of the skin cells in the outer most stratum of the skin. The stratum contains between 20 to 30 layers of cells and each layer becomes an antioxidant-filled barrier, capable of reducing the negative effects of the sun and greatly improving our skin’s ability to cope. It does not interfere with the natural protective mechanisms your skin already has in place to protect itself, and allows our skin to keep producing vitamin D unlike many sun blocks available on the market.
Specific Treatments
“Eye creams, neck creams, exfoliants and masks. Sometimes your skin needs a little bit extra than your basic regime; and it’s always nice to have a spa day at home! Use as recommended by your therapist. ”
A note on exfoliating: Like over cleansing, over exfoliating can strip the skin and do more harm than good. A healthy, hydrated skin won’t feel the need to exfoliate as often. Be gentle, and don’t scrub so hard! Apply a small amount to damp skin. Gently press Gentle Clearing Wash or massage Gentle Enzyme Peel into your skin. Leave for two minutes and remove with warm water and a cloth.
Skin Supplements
“Generally speaking, 1 tablespoon a day of our Bestow Beauty Oil, emulsified into food will be enough to ensure you are receiving the correct amounts of EFAs into your diet. You can use it in smoothies, breakfasts, salad dressings – the options are endless (to date there are also three cooking journals with the most amazing, easy & delicious recipes that go with your Beauty Oil).”

Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs) are one of the most important nutrients not only for general health, but also for skin health. Your body cannot produce these alone, so we must get these nutrients from the outside – our diet, specifically the Bestow Beauty Oils. It doesn't stop there though... especially when dealing with skin disorders, we need to look at other minerals and vitamins. Zinc, Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin B, and water are just a few of the vital nutrients required for skin health.
Skin Nutrition
“Always encourage a healthy & clean diet with your skin care regime. It may mean adding something to your diet to nourish and support, or it could mean being more careful by avoiding foods & drinks that can be toxic or irritating to the skin & body. Some foods are known to either congest (block) or heat (irritate) the skin. Different foods react differently in each of us, though your skin therapist can give you some great guidelines to follow.”
Often we do not consider that the food we choose to eat or the health of our bodies has any influence on the condition of our skin. Lifestyle and eating habits are directly reflected in our skin’s health and appearance. Janesce provides menu suggestions to promote skin health and beauty. Certain “skin foods” are packed with nutrients to support skin health and prevent premature aging. Adding a nutritional aspect to your skin care regime is both simple and straightforward.
Avoid Heating Foods
“If recommended to you by your skin therapist, avoid foods known to heat the skin. These are foods such as: alcohol, coffee, caffeine, hot spices, chilli, chocolate, orange juice, oranges, strawberries. Watch for other factors like: emotional stress, stenuous exercise, sun exposure, sitting by the fire/heater, air conditioning, hot showers/baths/pools, saunas and cooking over a hot stove.”
Some foods and drinks have a heating effect on the skin. These foods make some skin conditions worse by increasing any redness and inflammation present. If you are prone to redness, rosacea, eczema or any other inflammtory condition, we recommend avoiding these foods.
Avoid Congesting Foods
“If recommended to you by your skin therapist, avoid foods known to congest the skin. These are foods such as: cheese, chocolate, fudge, meat fat (sausages, mince, red meat), full cream milk, cream, cream-based desserts, mayonnaise, ice cream, cheese cake, fried fatty foods or takeaways, chips, trans-fats, peanut butter. Foods containing milk and whey powders can result in very fine blockages in your skin; such as protein powders, protein bars and chocolate drink powders.”
Some foods contain fats that are thick and sticky, and this can cause problems for some people who are more genetically sensitive to blockages and breakouts. These foods result in a n oil that is also thick, stick and more likely to block our pores. These same foods often contain free fatty acids that irritate and inflame your skin when secreted onto its surface. It's important to be away of these foods if you would like to have healthy, smooth, beautiful skin.
